Meet Marcel Altenburg

One of the global experts at the centre of using crowd dynamics for risk management planning is Marcel Altenburg MSCc MA, Senior Lecturer and Program Leader, Crowd Science at Manchester Metropolitan University.

Marcel has been helping the likes of London, New York and Chicago Marathons, the Bundesliga and some English Premier League Clubs apply crowd dynamics to the creation of COVID-safe risk management plans. He has also worked for United Nations, Expo 2020 and UEFA 2020.

Marcel's experience and solutions have been honed way before the onset of COVID helping events increase capacity, enhance participant experiences and engage with stakeholders.

As a passionate runner himself, Marcel has a unique ability to strike a balance between ensuring safety whilst not compromising the participant experience and having realistic regard for an event organiser's budget and P&L.
